I believe in the road less traveled, the path less worn, and the discoveries found through wandering. Many people call it the itchy feet syndrome, that compelling desire to roam and explore. I call it inspiration. It’s a blind faith that knows the world is stuffed full of wonder; we just have to be willing to slow down and observe.
Nearly twenty years ago, while working as a photojournalist at a small-town newspaper, I began a personal project, Landscape Interrupted. The series explored how intertwined we humans are with the natural world. We imagine, we build, then we move on, allowing nature to once again take over. My fascination with that cycle continues today. I’m a sucker for abandoned places, standing in silent witness to the dreams they once held.
When not traipsing around with a camera, I’m busy coauthoring murder mystery books with my wife Corie, playing the mandolin and guitar, or just hanging out with our two cats, Holmes and Sassafras, and the other foster dogs and cats that come in and out of our lives.
But enough about me. I hope you take a moment and sign up for my newsletter and send me an email telling me a little bit about you. Because wandering is an experience best shared.
